Ursula
Margareta
Skoglund
paints
a
rich
and
complex
mosaic
of
life
-
part
figurative
presentations and part abstract motives which show deep feelings and vibrations.
Her
work,
inspired
by
her
astonishing
life
voyage
shows
how
one
can
change
one's
life
into
surprises
filled
with
wonder:
travel,
study,
fine
art,
discovery
of
new
lands
and
their
inhabitants,
friendships,
voyages.
She
shows
attention
and
kindness
to
lands
and
their history, to the traditions, to the cultures of those who bring them to life.
Korčula has certainly been one of these surprises for Ursula.
And
of
course
she
has
transformed
the
day
to
day
life
of
this
island
into
a
poetic
inspiration for her art.
In
Korčula
the
artist
has
found
the
harmony
of
the
heart
of
the
Old
Town
transformed
into
a
ship,
sailing
forever,
of
"Moreska"
(the
traditional
enactment
in
dance
of
a
fight
between
the
good
king
and
the
bad
king
for
the
hand
of
a
fair
maiden),
the
liveliness
of
the
market-place
and
the
way
of
life
of
locals,
the
heritage
of
well-kept
traditional
values combining history and modernity.
With her paintings she expresses a personal artistic view in a very realistic way.
With
a
candle
which
takes
the
shape
of
an
Angel's
wings
and
an
artistic
golden
Easter
Egg
she
brings
out
the
symbolisms
of
the
universal
messages
of
Christmas
and
Easter
in
a
very
moving
way,
using
small,
simple
objects
which
move
us
deeply
with
their
humanity
and
emotion.
So
we
can
say
that
Ursula
Margareta
Skoglund
does
not
take
her
painting
superficially,
but
that
there
is
an
ongoing
theme
brought
to
us
through
her
brushes and canvasses.
