Korčula is the main town on the important tourist island of the same name situated in Dalmatia - the Adriatic coast of Croatia and the adjacent islands. It is easily accessible from Split by either a daily fast Catamaran passenger ferry or a car ferry to Vela Luka at the western end of the island. Or one can hire a car and drive from either Split or Dubrovnik to Orebic on the nearby Peljesac Peninsular from where a frequent car ferry covers the distance in 20 minutes. In the peak summer season, it is on the route of a car/passenger ferry linking Rijeka in the far north of Croatia to Dubrovnik in the south.
