She later married a blond-haired, blue-eyed Frenchman

and the family moved to Morocco. Since she could not

afford to buy artwork to decorate their home there, she

decided to paint her own. She used several different

styles so that people would not guess that she had

painted them all. This valuable experience rapidly

developed her techniques and helped to give Ursula a

distinctive style of her own.
Later she became an international forwarder in

Marseilles where she had her own company, and she

continued her painting as a lovely hobby.
Today, having retired, she spends her winters painting

and her summers sailing in the Mediterranean.

Ursula Margareta Skoglund
Was born in Gothenburg, Sweden
and at a young age moved to the

Stockholm area where she went to school

at Saltsjöbaden and later studied at

Stockholm University. She always had good

marks in Art so her mother wanted her to

go to Fine Arts School. Ursula said: “I want

to earn money now, not when I’m dead” so
she enrolled instead to study modern

languages. During her studies she worked

part time as a bank employee.

In 1961 after completing her studies,

Ursula left Sweden and spent four months

in France at the University of Lille

brushing up her spoken French. She then

went working at the Swedish Consulate in

Algiers, in the middle of the war for

independence from France.
