She later married a blond-haired, blue-eyed Frenchman and the family moved to Morocco. Since she could not afford to buy artwork to decorate their home there, she decided to paint her own. She used several different styles so that people would not guess that she had painted them all. This valuable experience rapidly developed her techniques and helped to give Ursula a distinctive style of her own. Later she became an international forwarder in Marseilles where she had her own company, and she continued her painting as a lovely hobby. Today, having retired, she spends her winters painting and her summers sailing in the Mediterranean.

Ursula Margareta Skoglund

Was born in Gothenburg, Sweden

and at a young age moved to the Stockholm area where she went to school at Saltsjöbaden and later studied at Stockholm University. She always had good marks in Art so her mother wanted her to go to Fine Arts School. Ursula said: “I want to earn money now, not when I’m dead” so she enrolled instead to study modern languages. During her studies she worked part time as a bank employee.
In 1961 after completing her studies, Ursula left Sweden and spent four months in France at the University of Lille brushing up her spoken French. She then went working at the Swedish Consulate in Algiers, in the middle of the war for independence from France.
